Love, Cars, and Circles

This is going to sound like a guys thing, but this is open to any and every person because it applies in a ton of situations.

For those that don’t know, I drive a 2006 Pontiac Vibe with 288,000+ miles on it. I can hear people say Dustin, get a new car. I have someone in my circle that has told me that numerous times. Sure, I can do that, but right now, I don’t feel like I need to. Down the road, yes I will. Cars if you take care of them will be as dependable as possible.

So where am I going with this? Well, I am going to tell you that you will learn about someone when you talk about car problems. She is either going to ask if it is fixable or tell you that you need to get a new vehicle. If she asks if it is fixable, she trusts your judgement and trusts you. If she says go get a new car, she is saying that things are replaceable. For the record, I don’t disagree in the fact cars are replaceable, but people in your life are not, but i feel you don’t rush into that decision.

In love, I don’t believe in being forced into making a rash decision. I believe in talking and communicating problems. I prefer to do that in person or over a phone. I am one for not doing it over texts.

In Philippians 4:5-6, it says, “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done“.

I am not going to go into my personal life on this, but I am always praying. Not just for myself, but for family, friends, co-workers, etc. God has blessed me with so much in life. He has given me answers, but the best way to get those answers is to trust in him. At times, we don’t get the answer we want, but there is always a reason why.

Colossians 3:13-14 says, “Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony.”

Earlier in the week, I brought up 1st Corinthians 13:4-8. I titled it my entry Love Always Wins. I firmly believe that. Lord knows that I am not perfect. While I strive to do the right thing, I fail.

Back to the cars, many of the issues leading to the idea I feel has to deal with living in fear. Some people do live in fear and some don’t. There are a ton of fears out there. I am not saying I don’t have any. I have a fear of climbing ladders, but I do it. I don’t know how many times I can use Proverbs 3:5, but it applies here just as much as in many other places.

2 Timothy 1:7 says “For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.”

For those that don’t know, I can have a temper in situations. Some people have seen that temper. I try my best to show love. When we have major fears, we feel powerless. It takes the love of someone who has probably been there and knows a bit. I will tell you I have been in some very dark places in my life. I have depression issues at times; in fact, I am going through a very dark place in my life right now. Some advice I give during the situation is to remember those who have been around in your darkest time? There are not many. It may be just a handful of people. Those are the people who really do care for you and love you.

I am asking for prayer today. I won’t say the reason why, what it is, etc. I trust in the fact God knows about the need. I trust in his plan and I am thankful the blessings he has given me, like wonderful people in my life or great experiences that I have enjoyed, or just getting me through things.
